Our Mission - to improve the performance and value of companies both by ensuring that the right people are in the right positions and by developing the leadership skills of their management teams.
Did you know that companies that are led by Leaders compared to those that are merely managed by managers:
- Attract and retain better employees
- Experience less absenteeism
- Enjoy higher productivity
- Produce superior products and services
- Serve their customers more effectively
- Generate more value for their stakeholders
In their book Corporate Culture and Performance (The Free Press, 1992), John Kotter and James Heskett reported the results of their study of 207 companies over an 11 year period. They found that firms with cultures that emphasized all the key managerial consitituencies (customers, stockholders, and employees) and leadership from managers at all levels outperformed firms that did not have those cultural traits by a huge margin. Over the eleven year period, the former:
- Increased revenues by an average of 682 percent versus 166 percent for the latter
- Expanded their workforces by 282 percent versus 36 percent
- Grew their stock price by 901 percent versus 74 percent
- Improved their net worth by 756 percent versus 1 percent
We call upon our combined 60+ years of military and corporate leadership experience to address the huge need for populating organizations with the best employees and developing the key personnel, from first line managers to senior executives, into effective leaders.
Our practice addresses both the character and competence components of leadership. By “character”, we mean the leader’s ethical framework. By “competence”, we mean the leader’s ability to accomplish the assigned mission through others.
Our development programs are based upon the following fundamental beliefs:
- Leadership is a profound privilege
- Its model is leader as servant
- Its foundation is integrity and the trust that it engenders
- Its exercise fulfils the attendant moral obligations to all stakeholders, including the
requirement to set the example both personally and professionally
- Its purpose is the accomplishment of the assigned mission
- Its means is inspiring people to that accomplishment
- Its primary tool is the understanding of human needs and motivations
- Its result is a sustainable competitive advantage
The general approach of The Leadership Forum is to:
- Assess the current leadership climate within an organization
- Craft a customized leadership development program to include: hiring, assignment, and promotion practices; and leader
identification and growth initiatives
- Train based upon the fundamental belief system cited above
- Audit the results to ensure positive change is sustained
Our Business is leadership.
